East Devon Local Plan

Work on East Devon District Council’s new Local Plan is progressing, with the Council’s thinking on the future location and scale of growth across the area continuing to evolve.

As part of the process, the Council recently published a “Working Draft” of their proposed Local Plan identifying a range of sites for possible development for major residential schemes. In order to inform its decisions, the Council invited developers to make presentations on a number of selected sites across the District to the Strategic Planning Committee. Of the 33 proposals under consideration, Bell Cornwell was involved in 15 of the presentations.

Each presentation required a master plan showing how the housing be delivered alongside the provision of employment and community facilities to support economic growth. Furthermore, the new developments are required to comply with the Council’s ambitious draft policies to become carbon neutral, protect natural habitats and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Working on behalf of a number of clients, it has been a privilege to represent such fantastic schemes that will help to shape a sustainable future for East Devon. The draft Plan is due to be published later this year when it will be open for public consultation – watch this space!
